Why can’t I upgrade the software of my Macbook?

Maybe the reason your laptop is bugging out is because it just needs an upgrade somewhere. The hard disk drive is a very important component of your laptop. If you didn’t have it, it would be impossible to turn it on. You wouldn’t be able to download a file or play a game or boot up your operating system in general. We can upgrade the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to a Solid State Drive (SSD), and increase the RAM (memory) for faster performance. In most cases, this is far more cost-effective than replacing it with a whole new one. 

If your Macbook air or pro wont upgrade because of a bug

Sometimes a malfunction will occur for some Mac users, and their MacOS update will be hindered. It could be that you come across a message that says, “The macOS installation couldn’t be completed, or, “macOS could not be installed on your computer. In other cases, the screen might freeze, in this case, try to restart your computer. Try to

  • Shut down any programmes running
  • Restart your Mac by pressing and holding the power button on your Mac for 8 seconds
  • Remove external hard drives first
  • Reset the PRAM after turning Mac off and on again and pressing the “Option Command P, and R keys” together for approx 18 seconds. 
  • Check you do not have issue with your Apple servers which could be overloaded.

    Kensington Office & the Lewisham Store is open in between 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday. Weekend bookings are subject to staff availability and we will have to call you back and confirm.

    Warranties:

    Standard warranty coverage: we provide product repair and offer a replacement of a product or product parts with the same item. We also offer a refund of the cost of the product minus depreciation if it is determined that the item cannot be repaired or if the customer opts for a refund rather than repair. The warranty must be activated for this to be put into full effect.

    Our standard warranty on almost all repairs is 3 months. We can extend the warranty for you to 6 months to a year depending on the type of service we carry out for you. We will let you know if we can offer an extended warranty on your devices during the quotation stage.
